Day of America is now a traditional event organized annually in Belgrade by the Serbian-American Friendship Congress.
This event has proven to significantly improve and enhance relations between the Republic of Serbia and the United States in the areas of economics, education, business, and politics, specifically within the scope of bilateral relations between the two countries.
This highly successful event has contributed to closer ties on both an individual and societal level, especially in the realm of cultural unity between our two countries and peoples.
A political panel was held on the occasion of ,,Days of America” event , focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Serbia and the USA.
Panel participants included the president of the Serbian-American Friendship Congress, Mr. Vladimir Marinković, the political advisor to the Prime Minister of Serbia, Mr. Predrag Rajić, Major General John C. Harris, Jr. from the Ohio Army National Guard, the U.S. Ambassador to Serbia, Christopher R. Hill, and the Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. Marina Raguš.
Ambassador Hill emphasized that Serbia has a true friend in the United States and is no longer alone, while General Harris highlighted that through our joint efforts, “we will go far together.”The significance of this panel within the framework of “Days of America” will be reflected in the years to come.
The panel “The Role of Public and Cultural Diplomacy in Strengthening Serbia-U.S. Relations” brought together prominent speakers, including John Cappello, Director of the Halyard Foundation, Nemanja Starović, Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans, and Social Affairs, and Vladimir Arsenović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy.
The discussion highlighted the historical significance of the Halyard operation during World War II, which played a crucial role in saving many lives and enhancing U.S.-Serbia relations. Participants emphasized the importance of cultural and public diplomacy in strengthening ties between the two countries, underlining the need for cooperation in areas such as culture and education. This panel represented an important step in deepening the partnership between Serbia and the U.S. contributing to regional stability and development.
The first business forum on the topic “Economy, Investments, and Strategic Economic Cooperation between Serbia and the USA” was held.
Participants included Ms. Sally Meyers from the economic sector of the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Mihajlo Subotić, founder and owner of Street Guys Hospitality, Mr. Vladimir Arsenović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, and Mr. Jovan Mladenović from Millennium Team. They concluded that the development of economic cooperation between our two countries can contribute to mutual benefit.
The entrepreneurial spirit of the Republic of Serbia and the United States has achieved significant results, leading us to conclude that together we can set new standards of success and encourage others to follow their dreams, which they can ultimately realize.
Award Ceremony for Lifetime Achievement in PromotingRelations Between the Republic of Serbia and the United States During the “Daysof America” Event on September 20, 2024.
The awards were ceremonially presented by Mrs. DanijelaPopović Jurić, a member of the advisory board of the Serbian-AmericanFriendship Congress.
The recipients of this prestigious award are:
- Mr. Dragan Simić, Dean of the Faculty of PoliticalSciences at the University of Belgrade in the field of science,
- Mr. Aleksandar Vasilyevich, Director of the Hilton Hotelin the field of business,
- Mr. Đorđe Višacki, Secretary General of the OlympicCommittee of Serbia in the field of sports,
- Ms. Tijana Delić, Member of the City Council for Cultureof Novi Sad in the field of culture,
- and Ms. Biljana Sahrimanjan Obrađović.
The recipients of this award in the field of politics, Mr.Miloš Vučević, President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and theUnited States Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Christopher R. Hill,accepted the award subsequently.
Today's manifestation "America's Day" held in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia shows that the vision of improving relations between the Republic of Serbia and the United States of America is becoming a reality day by day precisely within the strategic partnership of our two countries.
I am especially glad that the newly established Youth Caucus was welcomed by all participants and guests, because the future of our bilateral relations rests on it and on the ideals behind it. It is an honor to be at the head of the first organizational structure of its kind in our region, especially because these young people are special and unique in the best sense of the word.
